Worship

Our worship service is a strong statement of our Christian belief as expressed in our Church Covenant. We look to God in prayer and praise and receive God's message through the Scriptures and sermon. We actively participate in the service in prayers, hymns, and readings from the Psalms. Our choirs provide inspiration in their thoughtful musical presentations.

Worship – Word and Sacrament

Worship is the heart and center of our church life.

In God's presence we find direction for our church and renewal for our personal lives all week long.

We believe that the Bible communicates the gospel of God's love for us in Christ as well as the challenge of Christian discipleship. Through scripture reading and sermon, God's Word approaches us. In the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, the joy of belonging to God and to one another is regularly celebrated and renewed.  We respond to God's love with our hymns of praise, prayers, choir anthems, and offerings.  Excellent music has been a feature of our worship for many years.

Our two Sunday services begin at 9:15 am and at 11:00 am (July and August 10:00 am).  Holy Communion is celebrated twelve times during the year in accordance with the church calendar.  Baptism for children and adults is normally performed during the Sunday service upon request to the minister and approval by the Board of Elders. The congregation joins parents in a vow to nurture and provide love and support for the children of the church.

Children receive Holy Communion with parental approval or after completion of a three week class on the meaning of Communion.  All children in church school attend the first part of the Sunday service and may come forward for a children's message before being dismissed to their classes.

Special services are held on the Holy Days of the Church year: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and on Christmas Eve - Children's Service at 5:00 pm, Family Service at 7:30 pm and a Candlelight Communion Service at 11:00 pm.

Adult Choir

The Adult Vocal Choir assists the congregation in worship, offering anthems and other choral portions of the worship service.  If you like to sing, and wish to learn more about music in the company of friendly people, consider joining the Church Singers.  It is composed entirely of volunteers who meet for rehearsal each Sunday at 8:00 am in the choir loft.

Hand Bell Choirs, Youth and Adults

The Hand Bell Choirs perform frequently during Worship Services.  The Youth Bells meet at 11:00 am on Sundays in the Blue Room. The Adult Bell Choir rehearses on Sundays at 11:30 am in the Blue Room. All who would like to play or learn to play are welcome.   Assistance with reading music can be arranged.

Children’s Choir (Choristers)

Children's Choir meets every Sunday morning.  The boys and girls receive fundamental music reading experiences, while singing music that is fun and inspiring to the spiritual life of CCRC.  This is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn basic choir singing skills as they praise God together!

 Ushers and Greeters

Members are asked to volunteer to be ushers and greeters each Sunday. Ushers help worshippers participate comfortably and fully in the Worship Service.  They assist with seating (amplification is available in select pews), hand out adult, children's and large print bulletins, collect the offering and attend to any other needs which may be particular to the morning's program of  worship.  Greeters extend a warm welcome to worshippers at the Chapel and at the Sanctuary entrances.
