Mission- Serving and Giving
We
seek to do the will of God by following the example
of Christ in service locally, nationally and
internationally.
Mission and Benevolence
Christ
Community Reformed Church is deeply involved in the
mission of the Christian Church locally and world-wide
through financial support and community involvement.
Financial Support
Christ
Community Reformed Church provides financial support to
a large number of local ministries such as the
Jonesville Food Pantry, Shenendehowa Helping Hands,
Habitat For Humanity, HIV/AIDS Care, Schenectady City
Mission, Samaritan Counseling Center, Hospice of
Schenectady, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, The Susan G.
Komen Foundation, Interfaith Impact, Task Force Against
Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Neglect Force of
Saratoga County, CAPTAIN, and Camp Fowler (our Reformed
Church Camp-Speculator, New York).
We support the national and world mission of the
Reformed Church in America through annual gifts to New
Brunswick Theological Seminary. We share in support of
missionaries Bruce and Laurie Hawley, the Titus Mission
Project in Croatia, and programs addressing world
hunger, family planning, medical care, and evangelism in
Latin America, Russia, the Middle East and elsewhere. We
also directly contribute to our friends in the Orange
Farm School Project in South Africa, Friends of
Sarospatak and the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center.
About 10% of our annual operating budget is devoted to
needs beyond our walls. This amount is supplemented by
periodic special needs offerings to support specific
mission programs such as the major flooding in US, World
Trade Center Response and currently Tsunami Relief
through Reformed Church World Service and hurricane
relief in the Gulf Coast.
Mission Through Community
Involvement
Christ
Community Reformed Church encourages the congregation to
respond to God’s love for us. Every member has a talent
to discover and use, either by way of participation in
our many church organizations or individually. Many
members contribute time and expertise by serving on
community boards, in local government, and in various
ministries, such as Meals on Wheels, Tutors, Girl
Scouts/Boy Scouts Leaders, CFO Park District, CAPTAIN’s
Treasures Volunteers, Court Appointed Advocates for
Children (CASA), Volunteer Tax Preparers, PTA Leaders,
Coaches-Community Sports Groups, Boards Members—Lake
George Opera, Trustees—Friends of Shenendehowa Library
Board, Saratoga Performing Arts Center—Sponsors and
Patrons, STEM (Mentoring for Schools), Food Pantry
Volunteers, Garden Club Volunteers, Burnt Hills Oratorio
Society, President of Board of Trustees of Norman
Rockwell Museum—Stockbridge, Mass. and Halfmoon Town
Board—Councilman.
Mission through Sharing the Faith
The
Outreach Committee of CCRC is dedicated to equipping our
church family to reach out to those who are newcomers in
our community, those who need their faith strengthened,
those who have fallen away, and those who have no faith.
Our goal is to encourage and support our members in the
endeavor by providing opportunities for them to share
their faith with those who are searching or in need. We
work to establish our identity in the community through
publicity (brochures, website updates, advertising) and
participation in community events on behalf of CCRC. We
also plan social events that encourage fellowship and
provide opportunities to experience the welcome of Jesus
Christ.
