Hospitality
is a more visible ministry whose fellowship activities encourage
a community of friends among our church family members. Their
ongoing responsibility is to provide for the coffee hours after
the 9:15 am. worship service each Sunday. In addition, they
assist with or sponsor various fellowship activities throughout
the year aimed at bringing together different groups of people
within our congregation:
Hanging of the Greens: a favorite
holiday tradition among members of CCRC. All generations come
together the first Sunday in Advent to decorate the church,
enjoy a pot-luck supper together, and then return to the
beautifully decorated sanctuary for caroling and a Christmas
program.
Table for Eight: small groups
gather over a period of months for good food, fun and fellowship
in homes, parks, picnic areas, or restaurants, with everyone
contributing to the meal and everyone taking a turn to host.
Close ties and bonds have resulted among participants.
Mardi Gras: a festive and fun
multigenerational event celebrated before the Lenten season
begins. Games, live music, mask making, a pancake supper, king’s
cake, crowning of a king or queen, all culminate in a parade to
show off colorful costumes and masks.
Lenten Suppers: held each Wednesday
during Lent and sponsored by each of the committees of
Consistory who take a turn at preparing and serving a light
supper. Following supper each Wednesday, the pastors provide an
educational series. A special Lenten series for children is
offered during the lecture series which makes this an attractive
activity for families with children.
Lemonade on the Lawn: our summer
version of coffee hour. We move our fellowship time following
Sunday worship service outside in an informal setting under the
trees where we enjoy the beauty of the church gardens and warmer
weather.
CCRC Men’s Group: opportunity for
men of all ages to come together socially on a monthly basis to
get acquainted with one another through various activities,
speakers, community service projects, and sharing of hobbies and
interests.
TASC – Together as Sisters in Christ:
opportunity for women of all ages to come together socially on a
bimonthly basis through various activities, speakers and
discussion. |
